Miss World starts an African Romance

The  old saying 'diamonds are a girl's best friend'  resonates in the choice the Miss World Organising Committee and the Johannesburg Tourism Company (JTC) made when appointing African RomanceTM  as the Exclusive Jeweller to Miss World 2008. African RomanceTM was chosen on the basis that it embodies true African culture and style, and showcases beneficiation in the heart of Sandton, Johannesburg.

African RomanceTM will sponsor all jewellery featured in the run up and final of the Miss World 2008 pageant, being held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on Saturday 13th December 2008. Jewellery include beautiful bracelets all contestants will receive on their arrival as welcome gifts to South Africa, as well as couture pieces that will adorn the top 20 contestants during the swimwear and eveningwear finals.

Mohseen Valli Moosa, CEO of African RomanceTM states:"The Miss World Pageant is the pinnacle of our growth since our launch a year ago. The Miss World Pageant and African RomanceTM Diamonds are a perfect fit. We are the first African Luxury Diamond Brand and Design House on the continent. Through our designs we strive to demonstrate excellence from Africa and especially Johannesburg. Our brand provides global relevance for the rich heritage and warmth of our people and the beauty of our landscape’’.

Sourcing and beneficiating diamonds in South Africa, African RomanceTM subscribes to an unprecedented and comprehensive triple-bottom-line beneficiation model, to the protection of South Africa’s natural resources, value adding exported raw minerals and  the future downstream absorption of jobs created in the mining sector due to depletion of resources.

African RomanceTM is owned by WakeGem (Pty) Ltd, one of three divisions of wholly black-owned WakeHold (Pty) Ltd, established in 2003. WakeHold (Pty) Ltd invests in the healthcare, finance, property and mining sectors
